It's been a lonnnnnnnnnngggggggg time!

So I started this blog to document our travels and day to day lives and have completely let it go.

Where to start?

Let's rewind to October 2nd. I wasn't feeling well and was catching up on some shows on Netflix while the hubby was in the living room playing video games with a friend. The kids were in the living room with them hanging out and playing with their toys.

I decided to shut my eyes for a little bit. But no sooner than I shut them than all hell broke loose.

I hear my husband screaming for me that Mariyah was seizing. I ran out to see him holding her in his arms rocking her back and forth while she had this blank stare on her face, arm up in the air stiff as a board and just not there. At that very moment I felt like my heart was breaking into thousands of little pieces. One of my worst fears had just come true. One of my kids was cursed with the Epilepsy gene that I'd had as a child myself.   We talked to her and told her that we loved her and were trying to help her snap out of it. That was the hardest thing to see. Your child not knowing who you are or what's going on. 100% broke my heart.

So in the midst all this we call 911 and off to the ER we go. They were able to rule out a febrile seizure by running a blood screen to make sure she didn't have a infection. We brought her home and barely slept a wink that night.

Then all the appointments began, with our PCP, a Pediatric Neurologist, an EEG and an MRI. All to try and rule out that my daughter did indeed have epilepsy. The EEG came back mildly abnormal so the Ped Neuro sent us to Children's to have an MRI done on her to see if they could rule out a brain tumor or pinpoint any abnormalities in her brain on the MRI. Got a phone call saying that her MRI came back clear. At that point it was a waiting game.

We were waiting for her to either have another seizure or never have one again. We were told that the chances were good that this was a one time thing. But I couldn't shake the feeling that it was going to happen again.

A month passed and I started to feel better about things. I made plans to go out with my friend J.K. to go shopping for some winter clothes since it was her first New England winter. We'd just finished up at Kohl's and went to Olive Garden for endless soup and salad. I'd just been brought my diet coke when I got a phonecall from Brent. Now let me tell you something about my husband. He NEVER calls me when I'm out unless something is wrong or he wants to know what to make the kids for food.

So I answer my phone and he says "Baby you HAVE to come home IT'S happening again...." My heart sank. I told him to call 911 and that I was on my way home. We took off and managed to make it back by the time the ambulance left. I found the Ped Neuro's number and called and left them a message telling them what happened.

The very next day my peanut was placed on an antiepileptic medication called Keppra. She has been seizure free for almost 2 1/2 months now. So the meds are working. For the moment....

In the midst of all this our oldest, Ayden was diagnosed with A.D.H.D. and after much discussion placed on medication. He is doing 100% better and LOVES school....so much so that he won't let me pull him out of class the day his daddy comes home (which is VERY soon YAY!!!).

Things are finally slowly calming down and figured I'd update everyone on us and how we are doing. We are also waiting on orders to our next duty station. Those of you who know me really well, know just how much I HATE waiting. We are hoping to find out any day now where the winds will be taking us and what kind of new adventure awaits us.

Speaking of adventure...it is time for me to get the crazies to bed =) Thank you for reading and have a good night! =)

My baby girl turned 3 today!!!!

:::SIGH::: Yes, sad but true. My little girl is officially preschool age! I feel so many different emotions today. Happiness and a sense of sadness that I no longer have "babies" or "toddlers" I now have "children".

3 short years ago I was in the hospital and on my 3rd night of induction. I felt as though she was never going to make her entrance to the world. I'd been admitted on a tuesday (July 22nd, 2008)  and here we were it was thursday evening and I had been told that I'd still not had enough progress to be in active labor. That was around 5 p.m. on 7/24/08. Around 7:15 that evening my doc was making rounds as she was on call that night. She came in and checked me and said that she didn't think I'd made enough progress. That she'd check again later....on second thought right now....next thing you know she induced my labor even further by breaking my water. That's when I knew sh!t was getting serious. LOL! By 9:45 I was BEGGING for my epidural. Around 11 p.m. is when they finally got the on call Anesthesiologist in to give it to me. This is when the fun really begins.

So basically when I was a kid I had a childhood epilepsy disorder. But I still have to mark it down on my medical records. So when the anesthesiologist came in and found this out it made him a tad bit nervous. Apparently if they got any local anesthetic in my epidural space it could cause an epileptic seizure right then, right there. He puts my epidural in and only my left leg goes numb.....so they have to do it all over again and in the process my i.v. infiltrates. Swelling my hand to 5x the size it normally is....

I got my epidural finished around midnight and dozed off to sleep for a few hours. Only to wake up around 2 a.m. to tell my husband to get the nurse, that little Mariyah was making her way into the world at last!

At 2:33 a.m. 7/25/08 Mariyah Rose Hensevelt was born, weighing in at 6lbs 15.5 oz and 19 inches long! We were instantly smitten with our "little peanut peanut" as we called her. She was born 20 years to the date that my grandpa Teubner had passed away and it was also the 4th anniversary of when Brent and I had first started dating.

Now she's a 3 year old...sleeping soundly right next to me...I just cannot believe it! Oh well we've had an exciting day so I must hit the hay! Hope this finds you all well!
